Ken tops the league at Bushfoot

KEN Caskey topped the list in division one with his score of 37 points in the fourth week of Bushfoot's Glens of Antrim Shield winter league.

The thirteen handicapper opened with a good front nine of 18 points. The back nine was similar but fewer dropped shots returned nineteen points for his 37 total. Ken’s back nine of 19 kept Willie McLernon in second place.

A ’no score’ at the third didn’t stop Willie from carding nineteen points out and he added eighteen from the back nine to match Ken’s 37.

Brian Walker had a day of mostly pars and bogeys for his total of 36 points. More pars than bogeys, though a wobble nearly developed with a double bogey at sixteen. Another Walker, Des this time, weighed in with 34 points and fourth spot. Playing off 13, Des played to his handicap on the way out for 18 points, even with a blank at the eighth hole. Similar on the way in, a blank at the tenth didn’t prevent a good back nine of nineteen points being scored.

In division two of the league Francis Jeffrey came out tops with his 39 points. Very even scoring from the fifteen handicapper was the order of the day, 20 out 19 back with only one double bogey, a six at the concluding hole, to complain about.

Richard Elliott posted 34 points including a couple of blanks and a birdie at the eighth. Maurice McLernon added another 34 pointer but his back nine of fifteen points kept him in third spot. Twenty four handicap William Creighton logged 32 points. A couple of blanks on the outward nine pegged him back but the rest of his scoring was steady.
