Kevin clinches the Spring Cup on day of keen competition on the fairways

It was a glorious day at Silverwood Golf Club on Saturday for one of the bigger competitions of the year the Spring Cup.

The winner on the day was Kevin Carson with 42 points. He had 20 points on his front nine with four pars at the 1st, 4th, 7th and 8th holes along with five single bogeys.

On the back nine Kevin carded 22 points with six pars at the 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes and three bogeys to win on a better back nine score.

In second place was Eamon Magill again with 42 points. He had a great front nine score of 22 points with six pars at the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th holes and three bogeys.

The back nine yielded a score of 20 points which included six pars at the 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 17th and 18th holes, two single bogeys at the 12th and 15th holes and one no-score at the 16th hole for his total of 42 points.

Third place went to Sean McStay with 40 points, Sean had 19 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 1st hole, six pars at the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th holes, a single bogey at the 2nd hole, and one double bogey at the 5th hole.

His back nine score of 21 points had one birdie at the 13th hole, two single bogeys at the 11th and 16th holes and six pars.

The first gross prize was won by inform Fintan McAreavey with a one under par 71. He had a front nine of level par 35 with two birdies at the 7th and 8th holes, two bogeys at the 5th and 6th holes and five pars.

His back nine score of 36 had two birdie’s at the 17th and 18th holes, one bogey at the 11th hole and six pars.

Fourth place went to Paul Johnston with 40 points. He had a mixed bag of scores on his card with one birdie at the 17th, four pars and a mixture of bogeys and double bogeys and one no-score.

The second gross prize winner was Ethan Headley with 36 gross points.

He had a front nine of 35 level par, with two birdies at the 1st and 7th holes, two bogeys at the 4th and 6th holes and five pars to go with a back nine score of 37 that had two birdies, two bogey and five pars.

In fifth place was Matt Gilpin again with 40 points, he had six pars on his card, nine bogeys, two double bogeys and one no-score.

The senior prize was won by Henry Noble with 39 points.

The junior prize was won for the second year in a row by Jack Doyle with 37 points.

The front nine prize was won by Stephen Thompson with 25 points.

The back nine prize was won by Tommy Farren with 21 points.
