Kieron goes the extra mile to help Bennet House

Portrush man Kieron May will be dusting off his running shoes to participate in the Half Marathon at the Kennedy Kane McArthur Festival of Running.

Kieron had participated in a number of half marathons previously raising funds for Meningitis, the RNLI and Bennet House but had not done any since the birth of his son Tom, now seven.

Kieron said: “Having lost Dad last year I felt I would like to do something to remember him while also doing something practical to help Bennet House whose staff are so caring and attentive to all those in their care. I also thought that having just hit fifty it would do no harm to get out the running shoes and lose a few pounds.”

Kieron will be raising funds for the Bennet House Amenity Fund, in memory of his late father, Mr Donny May, who was a Leading Seaman in the Royal Navy.

Manager, Melanie Truss explained that Donny, probably best known as General Manager of renowned Fawcett’s Hotel in the town and as a rider in the North West 200, was a regular visitor to Bennet House.

Bennet House is the Legion’s Poppy Break Centre in Portrush, providing one or two week hotel breaks to serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces Community. If you would like to sponsor Kieron and help him to reach his £2000 target you can make a donation at www.justgiving/kieron-may or contact Jo May on 028 7082 3791 for further details.
