King's Park pupils finish in the honours on league date

Boys and girls finished in the honours at the first round of the Flahavan’s Porridge-sponsored Primary Schools’ Cross-Country League.

The event in Lurgan Park attracted a record entry of 400-plus children.

The boys’ class featured 218 competitors, with 208 signed up to push for prizes within the girls’ section.

The King’s Park boys posted the best tally of points in school history as six runners recorded times inside the final 14.

Dylan Alexander from primary seven won the boys’ race, with Emily Anderson - also a P7 pupil - home as the girls’ runner-up.

The fun run had 11 students on show from King’s Park inside the top 10.

Ellie Cousins from primary five finished first in the girls’ section. The Crooks twins, Dylan and Lewis, crossed the line, respectively, second and third.

The league programme will feature meetings across County Down, County Antrim, County Tyrone, County Fermanagh, North West and Southern Area. The leading three teams and five individuals from each area will progress into the final.
