Kyle makes his debut for Seapark
An impressive field of runners gathered in the Sixmilewater Park in Ballyclare recently to compete in Annadale Striders’ Malcolm Cup Cross Country race. The junior races kicked off proceedings and Carrick’s Seapark Athletic Club was represented by Kyle McGookin, sporting the navy vest for the first time.
Competing in the Under-15 category, Kyle made an impressive debut and did Seapark proud. The 14-year-old only recently joined the club’s ranks and is already demonstrating a natural flair for running. He made a good start off the line, then set and maintained a fast pace, finishing the two-mile race in a commendable 13:41. Well done to Kyle for what is hopefully the first of many races wearing Seapark colours.
The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm at Carrick Leisure Centre and is affiliated with the Northern Ireland Athletics Federation.
