"Last season was our first in the Championship League, and we found it difficult enough, but our aim was to stay up, and we achieved that.

"Now we have to get motivated for this season, and improve on our position."

Alison attended the launch of the Northern Ireland Women's League last week.

The league announced a new sponsor in 'Davison's Frudles', a new snack range.

Apart from the financial investment, the partnership also includes a number of free footballs and bibs for clubs within the NIWFA.

Elaine Junk, Chairperson of the NIWFA said: "This season sees us put in place another vital piece of the jigsaw – the announcement of a sponsor for our local domestic game.

"The committee has been working hard over the last year with the staff in the IFA's marketing department to source and secure key sponsors. This is a great day for women's football and I would like to thank Davison's for their kind support, and all the work they have already put into women's football."

Glenn Waddell, Commercial Manager at Davison's added: "We are delighted to become a partnership with the NIWFA and look forward to helping progress the local game at this level.
