“Joanne and Nicola have worked hard and we congratulate both on behalf of the club,” said Laurelvale’s Wesley Best. “Now both will take part in coaching sessions for various teams.

“Over the past year we have developed a strong coaching roster across multiple qualification levels.

“We already have a ladies’ team representing Laurelvale in the Northern Cricket Union but the plan is to establish a girls’ squad.

“Colin Stewart is currently in Australia with the NCU under 15s’ development panel and our schools’ kwik cricket programme has secured sponsorship this year from Charles Hurst.

“We had 10 schools in last season’s schedule but will increase sessions this year, starting next month.”

Laurelvale officials have been working hard to build on existing plans on and off the pitch.

“We recently added a defibrillator and mower, plus Andy Brennan is doing a great job on the entertainment side.

“Everything feeds into everything else, with, as an example, proceeds from our entertainment nights helping the club fund coaching programmes.

“It is about trying to maximise every opportunity.”
