Ladies keep promotion hopes alive with win

South Antrim Ladies 2XI maintain hopes of league promotion as they continued their winning form on Saturday, beating Donaghadee 2-0 at home.

It was an exciting and fast paced match as both teams were keen to snatch 3 points as the season draws to a close.

South started the game with great determination, winning balls in midfield and pushing forward; forcing the Donaghadee keeper to make some excellent saves.

However, Donaghadee fought back, testing the South defence with breaks down the left and right wing. South defence remained strong, producing strong tackles and breaking down the donaghadee attack to prevent the visiting team from taking an early lead.

Danielle Heasley claimed the first goal for South in the closing minutes of the first half as she skilfully picked up a cross from the left wing, following strong passing from the south midfield.

Donaghadee were keen to equalize in the second half, winning a couple of penalty corners.

However, Courtney Mills denied the ball from crossing the line as she made some excellent saves.

South Ladies maintained their form with a lot of strong passing and connective play in midfield.

South continued to move the ball around and were rewarded with their second goal of the match as Laura McConnell chipped the ball into the back of the net following a rebound off the Donaghadee keeper.

With only three league matches left South are keen to finish off the season in strong form and secure promotion for next season.
