Ladies Seconds are still unbeaten

South Ladies Seconds 0 Instonians Seconds 0

Hoping to continue their unbeaten run, South Antrim Ladies Seconds travelled to Shaws Bridge to take on Instonians Seconds in their first away fixture of the season.

The young team worked hard from the start with Danielle Heasley finding space down the right hand side to worry the Inst defence. Her shot was intercepted by the Inst defender and used to make an attack on the South goal. The Inst forward managed to get through the South defence but the South keeper Courtney Mills, in fine form, kept the girls safe.

Sarah Neill playing a solid game at right back was able to find Emma Tweedie who combining well with Claire Louise mounted another attack on the Inst goal, Claire’s shot was again well saved by the Inst keeper. South continued to put the pressure on and were rewarded with a short corner but again Claire Louise and Laura McConnell’s shots were saved by the Inst keeper, leaving the game all to play for at half time.

From the start of the second half South were determined to have something to show for their efforts with Amy Dugan in midfield covering a lot of the pitch. A clear pass found Cathy Gillis who passed a few defenders but again some resolute defending kept a clean sheet. Amy Wright, showing lots of promise again attacked down the right and combining well with Danielle Heasley kept on the pressure but were again denied with some fine performances from the Inst defence.

With the South team tiring towards the end the Inst team took the initiative but the South defence held firm and finished with a share of the spoils. Well done to Amy Dugan as player of the match and thank you to Brian Wilson for umpiring. The ladies are away to Queens next week and will hope to continue with their unbeaten run.
