Larne AC members make good time at Omagh Half-Marathon

A team of 10 Larne Athletic Club runners took part in Omagh Half-Marathon on Saturday (March 28).

Omagh Harriers welcomed over 3,000 runners for a variety of distances, and the field of 1,912 runners for the Half Marathon made it one of the biggest of the year.

First home for the club was David Noble finishing in 74th place with a time of 1.24.22. The next home in 143rd place was Thomas Craig in a time of 1.29.10. He was followed shortly afterwards in 184th place by Bert Shaw who clocked 1.31.34.

Ian Brennan claimed 382nd place with a good time of 1.39.19, completing his third race in seven days.

Dominic Watt was next home, smashing his personal best from last year to make 1.41.49 and 540th place.

Larne’s first lady runner across the line was Ruth Moore who had a strong run and finished in 981st place with a super time of 1.53.12. She was followed by Elaine Hall who ran 1.54.10 (1012th). Next home was Jackie Wallace (1017th) in 1.55.16.

Laura Oakes Simpson crossed the line in 1394th place in a time of 2.04.57 followed by Norma Johnston in 1842nd place, clocking 2.29.52

All runners received a finisher’s medal.

Three club members travelled to Hazelbank Park on Sunday March 29 for the Specsavers 5k Rabbit Run in aid of NI Hospice.

First to finish was Lyndsey Dillon in 185th place with a time of 35:49, followed by Rosaleen Humphrys in 191st place with a time of 35.54 and Julie Apsley 192nd place with a time of 35.55.
