Larne athletes on international duty

Three Larne Athletic Club members swapped their hometown vests for their country’s last week at the World Duathlon Championships in France.

But Davy Clarke, Jenny Magill and Adele Neill came away with mixed emotions. Adele sought advice and treatment for a foot injury after arriving in France. With heavy strapping, she managed to start the race but was forced to pull out after the first lap.

Jenny Magill was just as unfortunate, having completed the first 10k run and a 40k cycle, she entered transition two in 15th place, only to find the officials had mistakenly removed her running shoes, leaving her with no other choice but to pull out of the race.

On a brighter note, Davy Clarke performed to his usual high standard, completing the 10k run, 40k cycle and 10k run in 16th place. This was an excellent achievement, considering the quality of the field.
