Larne Athletic Club gears up for popular half-marathon

Following the heavy snowfall in March the popular AES Larne Half-Marathon has been rescheduled for June 8.

Over the years, the event has grown to attract over 1,300 athletes, and with this in mind Larne AC was fully committed to re-arranging the race as quickly as possible.

Organiser Andy Gregg said: “It’s the first time in the event’s history that we had to postpone the race and it wasn’t a decision we took lightly, but we had no option when considering the PSNI advice and travel distances for the many athletes and fun runners who compete.

“It’s the latest in the year that we have held the race and, with Belfast and London Marathons behind us, we are anticipating a record turnout to enjoy the picturesque route and, hopefully, better weather to accompany it!”

Registration takes place at Larne Leisure Centre and existing entries remain valid for the new date. Pre-entry facility has re-opened until Saturday (May 23) via www.larnehalfmarathon.webs.com.
