Larne crash out of Towns’ Cup

LARNE 1st XV lost 31-6 to Enniskillen on Saturday in the opening round of the Towns’ Cup.

With 15 players unavailable due to injury, illness, exams and work commitments, Larne fielded a very inexperienced side. However, they fronted up well in the wet and windy conditions as the home side led 10-0 at half-time.

At the start of the second half, Larne began to dominate proceedings and were on the score sheet twice in quick succession thanks to two Johnny Hall penalties.

With the score at 10-6 after 60 minutes, an upset looked to be on the cards. However, a score against the run of play allowed Enniskillen to get out of touching distance. They landed two more tries as the Larne men ran out of gas.

Larne Uner-19s continued in their winning ways with a 55-10 victory over Omagh away. This week sees the crucial league-deciding clash with Malone at Glynn.

Fixtures (January 12): Larne v Grosvenor; Larne II v Grosvenor II; Larne U19 v Malone U19.
