The girls, who top the league table, started brightly with Kerry McIlwaine scoring after only five minutes, finishing off a wonderfully crafted move.

Had it not been for the excellent form of the NICS goalkeeper and some wayward finishing, Larne could have been out of sight by half-time.

It wasn’t all one-way traffic though, as Trish Neill came to Larne’s rescue with two top-class saves, the first tipping a fierce drive onto the crossbar and the second pushing a goalbound effort wide of the post.

In the second half Larne went 2-0 up as Leah Craig finished high into the net after good play involving Leigh Snoddy and Ingrid Carmichael.

They missed numerous chances to go further in front and there was some worried looking faces on the sidelines as NICS pulled a goal back with just 10 minutes to go.

NICS pushed more players forward and raced clean through on goal but with Trish Neill in great form she rushed from her line and kicked the ball clear and Larne held on strong and saw out the match 2-1 to make it six points from six.
