Larne members excel at triathlon

Sunday saw five Larne AC members head north to compete in the Ballymoney Spring Triathlon.

Martan Keane with the fastest run and second fastest cycle of the day finished in 4th place overall, in a time of 45:58.

Stephen Montgomery put in a very strong performance over all three disciplines to finish in 8th place overall in a time of 47:00.

Jack Baxter continued to to show his talent, excelling particularly in the swim and claiming first placed junior in a time of 49:51, with almost a 6 minute margin over his closest competitor.

Ian McCluggage, as ever, put in a superb run off the back of a strong cycle finishing in 21st place in 52:13(unofficial).

Juliane Keane, taking on her first triathlon, was delighted to survive the swim and cycle and to finish as 5th female overall in a competitive time of 55:28.

On a very wet Wednesday, April 29, 11 Larne AC ladies travelled to the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre to take part in the annual Purple Ladies 5k, ladies only race.

A record number of 225 ladies took part in this year’s race with Janine Rainey being the 1st LAC lady crossing the line.
