The Glynn men entertain Academy on Saturday (2:30pm) and Garrett says the Qualifying 2 new boys are gearing up for battle.

“Academy will be yet another major test,” he said. “We will work hard on set-piece play to secure more ball and give the style of play coach Milligan has been working on a chance to show itself again.”

Larne were up against a strong Ballymoney side who boasted a big pack. The visitors took an an early lead but Larne hit back with an all-round brilliant team try before the interval. Winning the only scrum of the day in their own 22, Eddie Hunter made a break off the back to send the backs up the blind side. Some exquisite hands and off-loading saw Montgomery race in to touch down and give the Larne men some hope at the break.

However, they could do little to stop a five-metre scrum from which Ballymoney utilised their physical power to barge over for another try.

Late in the game a kick upfield bounced wickedly away from McBride, and intothe hands of a Ballymoney winger who went under the posts.
