Despite defeat to Ards, the club’s Aquasprint team remain in contention for a top three Division 1 play-off in early June. It was their first setback this year, but they will be going all out to claim victory in the remaining two meets.

At the Irish Minor Schools’ Championships in Galway, Larne was well represented by the Hunter family. Amy Hunter (P3) helped her Methodist College freestyle and medley relay teams to bronze medals when she competed in the P6 and under age category. Older brother Andrew swam a superb 50m individual butterfly and came away with a great personal best. And eldest brother James stole the limelight, taking fifth in the P7 boys’ 50m butterfly before claiming the Irish Minor Schools’ gold medal in the 50m breaststroke, capping an excellent weekend for the swimmers in Galway.
