Last bowl wins it for Lisburn against Northern

Lisburn went into the last end two shots down overall, but a good finish from Nick Haire gave them a single shot win over Northern in the second round of the IIBA Inter Zone Competition at Soldierstown on Saturday.

John Connolly, Jim Johnston, John Mackey and Chris Connolly were level 5-5 at the fifth but lifted a five next end and went on to win by seven shots.

Frank Cunningham, Stephen Irwoin, Connor Wilkinson, Con Mulholland were 4-9 down at the fifth ut lifted four, one and three twos to win by two shots.

Jim Harvey, Michael Fell, David Verner, Michael Beattie trailed 2-7 at five ends and 5-9 at the eighth before losing by three shots and Lisburn were 33-27 ahead at the break.

David Johnston, David Carser, Robert Sloan, Nathan Haire were 6-1 ahead at the fourth and 10-2 at seven before claiming a four shots win.

Michael Reid, Ross Mackin, Sid Heasley, Roy Kennedy trailed 1-7 at the fifth and eventually lost by eight shots.

Andy Riley, David Lee, Gabriel Brankin, Nick Haire were 2-8 down at the fifth but had pulled back to 7-9 by the eighth before losing by a shot but getting the overall shots necessary for victory.

New date for re-arranged Zone mixed pairs

A date has been set for the Lisburn Zone mixed pairs competition, which was postponed earlier in the season.

They will now be played at Derriaghy Parish hall on Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm.

Christmas tournament at Soldierstown

The date has been set for the ever-popular Soldierstown Christmas Tournament and they again hope for a good entry.

It will be played tonight (Friday) from 7pm, so make a note of the date and plan to attend. Their are several good prizes on offer.

Eglantine Christmas fun bowls

Eglantine Christmas fun bowls evening will be held on Friday, December 11 from 7pm.

All bowlers are welcome and a good evening with prizes is guaranteed.
