This was a tight hard fought battle from start to finish against a vastly improved and much changed Maghera United side.

Riada started the stronger and could have beem in front but for the Maghera goalkeeper Fullerton denying first Mullaghan and then Christie when bearing down on goal. Chances were at a premium in the first period with neither side carving out many other clear goalscoring opportunities. A free kick from Christie comfortably saved by Fullerton the only other effort of note.

The second period was a much more open affair with chances coming and going at both ends. Christie again testing Fullerton in goal with another set piece and also Graur firing wide after some good work by himself to create space. Riada were then handed the chance to go in front when Graur was shoved in the back when through on goal, penalty rightly awarded. However again Fullerton came up trumps tipping McCook’s spot kick onto the post. It looked like Riada were going to be left to rue this with Maghera almost immediately going in front through a great strike from Maghera captain Shiels lashing in from 25 yards with a great strike. Riada then peppered the Maghera goal in search of an equaliser with Duffy and McAleese both heading over from close range. And it was that man Fullerton again who looked to have guaranteed Maghera all 3 points after saving in the final minute when Brownlow looked destined to score. Riada kept going and with the very last play of the game a long throw from Graham found McAleese inside the box and after some strong hold up play the ball fell to McCook who poked across goal for Duffy to tap in from close range. Harsh on Maghera who were seconds away from the win but credit to Riada for going right to the end and preserving their unbeaten start to the season.
