Late, late show for Roesiders

Banbridge Town...(0) 1 Clydesdale (85)Limavady United...(0) 2 McConaghie (75), Spratt (90+5)

LIMAVADY United left it late against Banbridge Town but left Co. Down with all three points.

The game was littered with mistakes by the inept officials and both sides had cause for complaint. In fact Banbridge manager Colin Malone angrily confronted referee Alastair Burns after the final whistle.

The Roesiders took the lead through Gareth McConaghie before Neill Clydesdale pulled the home side level. Midfielder Peter Spratt headed the winner deep into stoppage time at the end of the game.

In the 2nd minute the 'Lims' had the first chance of the game but David Patton's effort was cleared off the line. Nine minutes later Town thought they had taken the lead but their goal was rightly ruled out for a foul.

With sixteen minutes gone United had another decent chance but Patton headed just over the bar from Lee Patrick's cross.

Limavady also had the next chance of the game this time Patrick saw his header well saved from Ciaran Clarke's corner.

The visitors had another close call in the 39th minute but Declan McKeever's free-kick flew narrowly over the goal.

Banbridge's only other real chance of note was a run and shot by Dale Malone which was easily saved by Michael Doherty. In the 59th minute substitute Paul Owens thought he had given the visitors the lead but his 30 yard free-kick was well tipped over by David Wilton.

Six minutes later the visitors really should have taken the lead. The returning Trevor Hutchinson burst through on goal but his chip was tipped away by Walton.

United did take the lead in the 75th minute however. McConaghie headed home at the back post from Owens in swinging corner.

The home side showed their intentions shortly after by making a triple substitution and it was one of these who drew them level.

A mistake by Martin McNutt allowed the home side a quick break and Clydesdale rolled the ball home with five minutes remaining.

Just a minute later the home side were reduced to 10 men in strange circumstances. Mark Teggert was sent off for a challenge on Damian McNulty despite vociferous protests from the home side.

Limavady grabbed the latest of late winners however when Spratt turned in Michael Walsh's cross in the fifth minute of stoppage time leaving Banbridge no time to respond.
