Leaders Ibrox rise to Thatch challenge

IBROX top the Larne and District Pool League at the end of Week 14, which may have been a defining point in the title race.

The Ibrox men travelled to Thatch and claimed a 9-6 victory over one of their main rivals and maintain their slender lead.

Defending champions The Gers, meanwhile, were beaten 9-7 at home in the extra frame by Larne FC in a “dress rehearsal” of the Knockout Cup final.

The Feathers became the first team this season to go straight through the card without losing a frame in their match at Larne FSC.

Both No1 Club teams were involved in dramatic finishes: Station Bar - at the end of a sequence of away stops - were pipped on the line by the Blues, while Alex Irvine’s team were nearly left behind at Ulsterbus Eagles, only to rally very late for a draw.

St Comgall’s, who are moving along nicely, defeated Eagle Rockets 11-4 for the second time this season.

Results:

Larne FSC 0, The Feathers 15; No1 Blues 9, Station Bar 7; St Comgall’s 11, Eagle Rockets 4; Thatch Bar 6, Ibrox 9; The Gers 7, Larne FC 9; Ulsterbus Eagles 8, No1 Club 8.
