League leaders suffer defeat at the hands of Racks A

Tennents Coleraine and District Pool League Division One leaders Potters A got a rude awakening last week as they went down 14-6 to Racks A.

The Coleraine boys got off to a flyer winning the opening session 4-1, but they only managed to win two more frames after this as the Ballymoney men took control.

It was a poor showing for the Potters by their recent standards but credit must go to Racks for who Johnny White (3/4) had a good showing.

Sperrin A recorded a high scoring victory over Bullseye A. The match started off as a tight affair with the Sperrin winning the first session 3-2.

But it went downhill for the Bullseye after this as the Sperrin showed their quality steamrolling the opposition 14-1 in the final three sessions.

Man of the Match: Lee Caulfield (3/3).

The Forge kept the pressure on the leaders with an important 13-7 win over Railway Arms. They started the match like they meant business winning the first session 5-0. Their opponents didn’t lie down though as they fought back to win the next two sessions 3-2 to take the game into a final session.

The pressure was on as John Huston beat Scott Clark to bring the match back to 9-7. Lee Hull beat Raymond Baxter in an exciting frame before captain Darren Boyd secured a vital victory for his team. Man of the Match: Lee Hull.

Racks B saw off Mary Pats 16-4 in what was a very one sided affair. The Ballymoney men stormed to the win as Mary Pats struggled to get into the game. Great performances from captain Ryan Murphy and Stefan Christie.

Division Two leaders Potters B showed their title credentials with with a convincing 18-2 win over the basement boys. Man of the Match: Kealen Herald.

The Village Tavern recorded a hard fought victory over Bullseye Old Boys. It was a tight affair with the game tied at 5-5 after the first two sessions.

But winning the third session 4-1 set the Articlave men up for victory and they duly obliged as Richard Forbes won the vital frame to seal a great win.

In an entertaining tie between basement boys the Roost Bar and the Grove Bar it was the visitors who came out on top winning 13-7. The more experienced Grove side saw out the game with Trevor White and Vedar Doey the joint man of the match.
