Leonard congratulates Eoghan Rua on 'stunning victory'

SINN Féin's Billy Leonard has described Eoghan Rua's victory in the Derry championship on Sunday as stunning and has congratulated the club on their brilliant achievement.

Billy, who attended the match at Celtic Park with his family, said “This was truly a stunning victory against a great club, Ballinderry.

“The quality of play, grit and determination was out of this world and it marks yet another milestone in the club’s history.

“It was just great to attend as a fan and enjoy the occasion.”

Billy, who is East Londonderry MLA for Sinn Fein, added: “Last week I asked the Mayor for a reception when the camogs and under 18s won their championships. Now we can add the senior footballers to the event.

“The teams and the club as a whole have given great enjoyment to literally thousands of people and sports enthusiasts throughout the Borough. It is right that we mark and recognise their contribution.”
