Leslie wants Academy side to bounce back

Banbridge Academy rugby Coach Brian Leslie is looking for his side to bounce back from their Schools’ Cup exit by producing their best in the Schools’ Bowl.

Speaking about Saturday’s 6-0 defeat at Portora, Coach Leslie said: “It was a tight game. I don’t feel we really played our best rugby.

“We couldn’t get anybody going forward. Portora never looked like scoring a try, but certainly neither did we.

“They were very good at keeping the ball, they held it well when they had it and credit to them.

“There wasn’t a lack of effort from our boys and our Captain, No 8 Matthew Bell and scrum half Jay Pinion both had a good game.”

Coach Leslie added: “We are into the Bowl now. We play Portadown College on Saturday February 7 at home.

“We’ve played them a couple of times this year and beat them at their place in a fairly high scoring game. I’m happy it’s at home but it will be another tough cup game.”
