Lessons learned from defeat

Lurgan Ladies finished off their final round of the Irish Hockey League with a 3-0 defeat in Dublin against Hermes.

Lurgan were without coach Davy Menaul, captain Charlene Hull and forward Jo Anne Wilson as Steff Moffitt and Zoe Hawthorne stepped into the squad.

Lurgan matched a very strong Hermes outfit with their skill, passing and determination.

However, three mistakes resulted in three goals for the home side.

The opening goal came in the first quarter when the ball was lost in midfield. A defensive error saw Hermes take a 2-0 lead and they completed the scoring in the third quarter.

Despite the defeat Lurgan can take a lot of positives from the game.

Congratulations to Alex Hurst who has been selected for the Irish U18s and Pippa Best who was on duty with Ulster U21s this week.
