LIAM IS ‘KEANE’ TO CHAT TO ROY

Never far from controversy, Keane’s acrimonious departure from Manchester United, his dismissal from the 2002 World Cup, a fight with a fan at a team hotel are only a handful of incidents which have been widely charted in the media.

Uncompromising on and off the pitch, Roy Keane has never been a man afraid to voice an opinion and he doesn’t suffer fools gladly, so when Ballymoney sports commentator, columnist and pundit, Liam Beckett received a call before Christmas asking him to host a chat show with Roy Keane he didn’t think twice. “I received a call out of the blue from a lady in Armagh asking if I was free on February 4th. It turns out they want me to host an Evening with Roy Keane in the City Hotel, Armagh for the Train to be Smart TTBS Juniors charity. She said ‘You did one here last year with Keith Gillespie and it was a great success and we wondered if you would be interested in doing the chat show with Roy Keane.’

“They want me to compere the evening, conduct the chat show with Roy and then do a Question and Answer session between Roy and the audience which could be interesting!

“They want me to come down at lunchtime, go into a room with Roy and have a chat, feed off each other and prepare for the evening chat show -it’s one hell of a gig to get and I am absolutely delighted to have been asked.

“Everyone knows what a controversial character Roy is and there are so many topics to chat to him about, from the World Cup, to Mick McCarthy to his fall out with Sir Alex, you could spend a week chatting to him.

“The event is already a sell out and I am very privileged to be asked to do this. A Cork man and a man from the Toon, there will be some accents on the go that night!”
