INSTITUTE crashed to another defeat in the Ladbrokes.com Championship this time at the hands of Glebe Rangers.

The young side, missing several key first team regulars, looked a little lightweight at times and failed to really trouble the visitors, but in truth neither side showed much quality and clear cut chances were at a premium in this game.

This defeat saw Institute leapfrogged by Rangers and they now find themselves in eleventh position. In the end though, Glebe snatched the points with a Peter Kennoway header late in the second half.

It took until the 22nd minute for the first chance of the game, debutant Wesley Ferguson’s cross was headed goalwards by Declan Divin but Brian Kane gathered under his crossbar.

Glebe’s first chance of the game came in the 37th minute but Lee Forgrave’s long range effort was well over.

A minute before the interval Tommy Elder cleverly deceived two defenders but his weak shot was easily saved.

The visitors should have been ahead minutes into the second half, a long throw caused confusion in the home box and when the ball broke to Kennoway four yards out he blazed his effort over the bar.

With 51 minutes gone ’Stute should have taken the lead when Joe McCready’s wonderful free-kick struck the inside of the post but with the goal at his mercy Mark Nicell, who had all the time in the world, fired well over the crossbar.

Seven minutes later the visitors had another half chance, this time Ricky Nicholl fired wide of Alan Ryan’s goal.

With twenty minutes remaining the home side had a super chance to break the deadlock when McCready was the provider with a corner but Divin’s header was well blocked.

The winner came ten minutes from time when Kennoway rose highest to place his header beyond Ryan from Stuart Moore’s long throw.

Five minutes later McCready and Divin again combined from a corner kick but once again the latter’s header was easily saved.

Rangers had the final chance of the game when teenager Craig McAllister’s close range shot was blocked.
