Lisburn course in pristine condition

THE presentation of the Lisburn golf course brought praise from Gerald Gartland (Noraut) sponsor of the Barbour Cup, the final competition of Lisburn's Open Week.

Gerald played the course recently and rated it as one of the best inland courses in Ireland.

He considered it was Ulster's answer to Augusta with the rhododendrons in full bloom. He said his firm was delighted to be associated with the sponsorship of the Open Stroke competition on Saturday, June 26.

The Barbour Cup has been competed for at Lisburn for over 100 years. Noraut is one of the leading suppliers of gaming machines in Ulster.

Open Week commences on Sunday, June 20 with a Mixed Foursomes competition sponsored by Midas Jewellers, Lisburn.

The Mens Stableford on Monday is sponsored by Gordons Chemists, Laganview Golf Centre sponsor the Ladies Stableford on Tuesday. Wednesday's Mens' Stableford is sponsored by Martin Phillips Carpets. The Ulster Bank sponsor competitions for men and ladies on Thursday with Hutton Tiles sponsoring the Mens' Stroke on Friday.
