Lisburn ladies get back into the swing of it

Lisburn Golf Club’s lady members have eased themselves into the new golfing season with a bring and win team event over nine holes on the 4 March, followed by a 13 hole competition the following week.

This proved to be a popular compromise with many of the ladies before the full 18 hole competitions start in earnest and particularly given the wet conditions still affecting parts of the course.

Section A

1st Sheila Cromie 25 points, 2nd Noreen McCluskey 23 points.

Section B

1st Trish Neville 25points, 2nd Hilary Morrison 23 points.

Tuesday 18th March saw the first full competition of the 2014 season, kindly sponsored by Hazel Brown and Kathleen MacDonald. The winner in Section A was Doreen Green with 40 points and in second place, Ida Ross with 36 points. In Section B, the honours went to Margaret McDonagh on 33 points with Trish Neville in second place with 32 points.

On Tuesday 25th March, the annual Nellie Garrett Foursomes took place with top spot going to the new Lady President, Mrs Maureen Bryson and her partner Ann Gowan with a terrific score of 45 points, who also bagged two 2s in their round.

In second place with a creditable 42 points was Ruth Walker and Christine McCullough, who also had a two.

The winners will go forward to the finals at Knock GC on the 11 September and we wish them every success.

The nine hole competition was won by Mrs Beth Kee with a super 20 points.
