Lisburn schools play first fixture

Year 9s from Laurelhill Community College and Lisnagarvey High School took part in a rugby match hosted at Lisburn RFC recently.

None of the players are members of a club, but many have now expressed a desire to join Lisburn RFC.

The event was organised by Ulster Rugby coaches, funded by DCAL and Active Communties Coaches, funded Lisburn City Council.

A ‘Play Rugby’ event will be organised at Lisburn Rugby Club to help welcome the boys from both these schools, in addition to others in the area, allowing them to take part in a training session and hopefully join the club.

This has been made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the ‘Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport’ programme.
