Lisburn win an exciting tie as they take on Mid-Tyrone in the Inter Zone Men’s Cup competition

Lisburn Zone scored an exciting win by five shots over Mid Tyrone in the second round of the Inter Zone Men’s Cup at Eglantine on Saturday.

Lisburn were ahead by a shot at the halfway stage, but with two games tied after the break Nick Haire’s four shots made sure the locals got a good win.

It will be much harder in the next round when Lisburn travel to Oriel.

Gordon Stubbs was level 5-5 at the halfway mark and went on to win by two shots.

After dropping a four but lifting a three Paul Reid later dropped another three but came back to earn a draw.

Down 4-5 at the fifth but level 7-7 at the ninth Nathan Haire dropped the vital shot, though Lisburn still led by a shot overall.

Ahead 6-0 at the second Noel Graham slipped to 7-7 at the sixth. It was nip and tuck to finish all square.

Down 3-4 at the sixth Raymond Stubbs battled back to earn a tie.

Ahead 5-0 at the third Nick Haire was level 5-5 at the fifth but went on to win by four shots.
