Lisnagarvey Ladies are enjoing a good season

Last Thursday, Lisnagarvey Ladies travelled to Newcastle where they took six points.

Iris Scott and Vera McCourt’s rinks had score of 24 to 11 and 27 to 12 respectively .

Moya McLean’s rink won 19-15 while Kay McCully’s rink was the only loser being beaten 24-20.

Earlier in the month saw the Senior Inter Association competition held at Belmont Bowling Club.

This competition is held between the four Ladies Bowling Associations in Ireland - Northern Irish Women’s Bowling Association, Northern Ireland Private Green League, Provincial Towns Women’s Bowling Association and Ladies Bowling League of Ireland.

Iris Scott, Mae Gibson and Moya McLean were selected as members of the NIWBA team. Iris has represented NIWBA on many occasions but this was a first time for Mae and Moya. All three enjoyed the experience and contributed well to the overall result.

Lisnagarvey Ladies have had mixed results in the NIWBA competitions this year so far.

A triples rink of Bridie O’ Rourke, Margaret Snodden and Moya McLean reached the quarter finals stage of the competition.

An over 55’s rink of Marilyn Kerr, Winifred Cameron, Margaret Snodden and Moya McLean were unfortunately denied a semi final place by one shot , going down to Holywood.

Iris Scott has had a very successful run of results in the singles and has reached the finals of the competition. Garvey wish her good bowling when she plays the final in Newry against Ida Eldon of Dungannon later this month.

Lisnagarvey have reached the semi finals of the Wingrave Cup which is to be played in late August.

This has been a busy season for the ladies who are third in the Senior League.
