Lisneal cruise into last eight

LAST Wednesday, Lisneal entertained Ballymoney HS in the last 16 of the 2012 High Schools’ Trophy having defeated Banbridge HS in the previous round.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half Lisneal put their oponents under constant pressure, however poor decision making and handling errors prevented Lisneal from gaining anymore than only a five point advantage at half-time, secnd rower Corey Logan, the scorer for Lisneal.

This was poor reward for all the pressure that Lisneal had exerted in the first half, and Lisneal knew that playing into the ever strengthening wind in the second half would not be easy.

However this seemed to spur Lisneal on as they began to move the heavy Ballymoney pack around the pitch creating gaps in their defence. Lisneal also speeded the pace of the game up in an attempt to catch the Ballymoney team out.

The gaps soon began to appear and were exploited by firstly Jordan Stewart at second centre who scored after a kick to the corner by out-half Daniel seaman, and then a further two tries from Corey Logan to complete a hat-trick and man of the match performance.

The second half was a stop-start affair with two serious looking injuries to Ballymoney personel, however Lisneal kept their concentration throughout and kept the Ballymoney team scoreless to cap off a fine performance in trying conditions.

This puts Lisneal into the last eight of the trophy where once again they will be hoping for home advantage.
