LIVE: Banbridge v CA Montrogue

WELCOME to the Leader’s live updates from Banbridge’s first European Hockey League game with CA Montrogue in Belgium.

Bann are in the heart of the Dragon’s lair but they start today without Dermy Reay, who has failed to recover in time from a hamstring injury but Ross Beattie has managed to make it.

The start has been delayed until 10am due to a frozen pitch.

2: 1-0 Montrogue, Cariolet. Looks like Lennox was having trouble with the sun for that one after the ball was cut in from the byline.

3: Ross McCandless mistimes a short corner, ended up scuffing it and possibly should have done better with that.

6: Bruce McCandless goes close from a tight angle - looked like he got a bit of a shove on the way.

8: 1-1, R McCandless from a trademark penalty corner. Ward off for S Dowds.

Banbridge applying all the pressure, they really deserve to get something out of this.

Pen corner given. Big, big chance for Bann.... but it’s been blocked! Under a minute left.

And it’s over. Bann lose narrowly 4-3 but they can be proud of their display. It means they have to beat Hamburg to go through on Sunday and considering they are two time champions it’s going to be a big ask. We’ll have live coverage again of that on Sunday morning.

BANBRIDGE - Lennox, R.McCandless, Brown, Carlisle, S.McCandless, B.McCandless, Beattie, Moffett, Ward, Dowds, Magee.
