Lloyd set for Lisburn anniversary dinner

LISBURN Cricket Club have lined up Sky Sports pundit David Lloyd as their special guest at a Gala dinner to mark the club's 175th anniversary next year.

The former test star has agreed to be guest speaker at the dinner on October 8, 2011 in the Lisburn Civic Centre.

"We are delighted David Lloyd has agreed to support the dinner," said club stalwart Cecil Walker. "He is one of the most respected figures in the game and this event will be one of the highlights in what will be a very busy 2011 with a series of events lined up to mark this milestone in the club's history."

Lloyd spoke of his affection for Northern Ireland and recalled his first meeting with Cecil. "My first recollection of Cecil was when he said to me, 'our one-day final is a two day game' I just had to come over to find out. I have not spoken at any dinners for years but I'm not going to miss coming to Lisburn."

Details of how to book tickets for this special event will follow in due course. Last weekend Lisburn hosted the final of the Junior Cup with Academy beating Waringstown Seconds by one run. Dr Murray Power, NCU President, thanked the Lisburn Club for their efficient manner in staging the event.
