Springwater, which sadly closed its doors for the final time in August, went out with a bang by holding their annual competition with activities for all ages including worm fishing and a bouncy castle. Plenty of fish were caught throughout the day and a great nights craic was had by all. The competition was held in memory of Bobby Johnston, known by friends at Springwater as ‘Trouble’ and also Michael Patterson and Frank Gibson who sadly passed away this year.

Zelda and Francis Hearst from Springwater Meadow Fishery said; “This year’s fundraiser was even more of a sensation than last year’s and we cannot thank everyone enough for attending, donating prizes and helping us raise such a great amount.

“The care and support that Northern Ireland Hospice provides to patients and their families at a time when it’s needed most is second to none and we are delighted to be able to sponsor a brick in the new Hospice in memory of Bobby, Michael and Frank.”

Deirdre Melly, Community Fundraiser for Northern Ireland Hospice added; “We would like to sincerely thank Springwater Meadow Fishery for supporting NI Hospice in such a unique way. The support for our Buy a Brick Campaign from local individuals is very much appreciated and will help us create a solid foundation for hospice care in Northern Ireland. This contribution will go a long way to help with the rebuild of Somerton so that future patients and their families can have positive experiences at such a difficult time.”
