Local athlete selected for Youth Olympic Games

Gracehill athlete, Roseanna McGuckian has been selected onto the European Team to compete in the Youth Olympic Games.

After competing in the European Trials in May which took place in Azerbaijan, she got notification last week that she will be competing in the 200 metres in the Games which take place in Nanjing, China in August.

It is another great acheivement in a fantastic 18 months for the teenager, back in February she was named young sportsperson of the year at the Ballymena Sports Awards.

Roseanna is delighted to be selected for such a prestigious event and delighted with the opportunity to be competing against the fastest Youths in the world.

Roseanna recently won the Ulster Senior 200m title in a personal best time of 24.37 and knows that she will only get faster over the next few weeks in the build up to China.

She will be competing in the Irish Junior Championships this weekend which take place in Cork where she aims to improve on her personal best.
