Local darts teams battle it outin Charity Cup competitons

The Ballymena, Harryville and District Darts League, sponsored by Mid Antrim Blinds, took a break from league action for the beginning of the charity competitions.

Drifters’ wins this week came from Darnell McCrory (2-0), John Elder (2-0), Geoff Wylie (2-0), Paul Gray (2-1), Noel Craig (2-0), Rodney White (2-0) and Davy McFall (2-0).BT/PO 5 Greenhills 4: BT/PO continues their good form with a comfortable win having lead 5-0. Their winners this week were Lex Gilmour (2-1), Tam Jameison (2-1), Shane Hillis (2-0), Billy Gay (2-1) and Glenn Gilmour (2-0). Greenhills restored some pride with wins from Leonard McKeegan (2-0), Jarlath McGarry (2-1), Stevie McIlroy (2-0) and Darren McNeill (2-1).Michelin 3 The Diamond 6: The Diamond ran into a 4-0 lead before Michelin won the next two games to set up a nervy finish. Colin Penny (2-1), Bobby Carson (2-0) and Henry Eagleson (2-1) with the wins for Michelin. The Diamond hoping to win the Tushy Cup on behalf of their late team-mate progressed to the semi-finals courtesy of Ryan Gault (2-1), Ian Rainey (2-0), Denis Gault (2-0), Colin Reid (2-0), Davy Martin (2-0) and Ronnie Beverland (2-0).

Fountain Arrows 7 Slemish Tavern 2: Fountain Arrows progressed to the next round comfortably having been 6-0 ahead. Slemish Tavern winners were Geoffrey Gibson (2-0) and Gareth McCullough (2-0). Buffs Club 4 Fountain Bar 5: A closely contested match, the result decided in the 8th game. Buffs Club saw wins this week for Darren Purdy (2-1), Matthew Reid (2-0), Paul McDonald (2-0) and Stevie Trainor (2-0). Fountain Bar, their winners this week were Billy Montgomery (2-1), George Foster (2-0), Jack Russell (2-1), Jonny Russell (2-0) and Alan Young (2-1). Social Staffers 2 Spinning Mill 7: Spinning Mill inflicts the first convincing defeat on Social Staffers.
