Local duo impress at Rasharkin duathlon

Damian led the 50 strong field during the opening 5k run section, a lead he was to lose on the bike section where he slipped to third.

Going into the final 5k run Damian was 1k down on the leader and 400 metres behind second place. However a slick run leg saw him power through the gears to overall the lead duo and secure a hard fought victory.

Also in action at Rasharkin was the very talented 12 year old James McKeown who claimed second place in the 5k road race. This was bright prospect James’s first competitive outing.

ECOS PARKRUN

Chris McQuillan continued his relentless progress with his now customary personal best clocking. On home soil at the Ecos Parkrun Chris clipped 39secs of his previous best to finish in 25th place from an entry of 79 runners.

TRAINING NIGHTS

Fit N Running’s Monday night beginners class continues to be popular with three training groups consisting of Beginners, intermediate and advanced athletes participating.

Tuesday night is a night designated to periodised structured development training.

The weightloss/ Conditioning circuit class is now under-way on a Wednesday evening at 615pm. There are a few spaces remaining and there is still time for newcomers to enrol.

Saturday morning session are dedicated to long runs and start at 915am.
