Local road racing news

THE Donegal road race series continues tonight (Friday) with the Ramelton 5K at 7.30pm.

Over in Tyrone, also at 7.30pm is the Sperrin Harriers 5mile Classic, in Cookstown.

The action then moves to Dublin’s Morton Stadium in Santry for the two day National Combined Events championships for seniors, juveniles and masters.

There will be some local athletes travelling with hopes of making an impression.

Race two in the Foyle Valley “Out the Line” series, a 5K has a 11am start tomorrow with entries taken at the Long Tower Youth/Community Centre pre-race and the new series concludes with a five miler the following Saturday, August 11th, same time, same location.

Looking ahead next Wednesday evening it’s the Colm Quigley Jog in the Bog, out of the Gasyard Centre at 7pm.

Entries for the 5k race will be taken on the night from 6pm and also accepted until 5pm on Tuesday, August 7th by e-mailing [email protected]

Simply send your name, date of birth, age on race day, club, if any and address and you can then pick up your race pack on race night.

There is also a 1K kids Fun Run starting immediately after the 5K start, entries taken on the night.

The annual Danny McDaid 15K road race in Letterkenny is set for Sunday, August 12th with a 11.30am start and this one usually attracts a big turn out with club runners keen to tackle the close to 10 mile distance as the autumn season looms.
