Local stars offered advice from legends

Upcoming sports stars in the area and their coaches have the chance to take in seminars from sporting legends this weekend.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is hosting a Sports Conference on Sunday (26th April) at the Lagan Valley LeisurePlex from 9am to 2pm.

Among the speakers will be Oran Kearney, Coleraine FC Manager and former Linfield player and Oisin McConville, Armagh All-Star, All-Ireland Winner and Crossmaglen Manager.

Also taking the microphone are former Ireland rugby coach Mick McGurn, International Strength & Conditioning Coach, who is currently working with Manchester United and John Rossborough, third in the World in Kickboxing.

This bespoke conference will concentrate on Football, GAA Sports and Rugby with registration commencing at 8.30am.

The Council is very pleased to have local BBC Sports Journalist Thomas Niblock compéreing on the day.

The programme has been designed to assist those attending enhance their coaching and performance skills.

It is appropriate for young sports people and coaches.

There will be seminars on mental toughness, turning strength into power, fuel and recovery and making it to the top; and coaching sessions focussing on fundamentals and technical skills.

Already on board to attend are the NI Boys Soccer Under 18 Squad, Antrim GAA Development Squads and Ulster Rugby Regional Development Squads.
