Local stock car drivers help in £5k fund-raiser

The fundraising efforts of Northern Ireland Oval Racing have resulted in a fantastic donation of £5,000 being raised for the charity.

The monies were raised during a special football match between stockcar racers from County Antrim and County Armagh/Tyrone, followed by a fundraising night earlier in the year.

Accepting the donation on behalf of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, Community Fundraiser Peter McCabe commented: “NI Oval Racing’s ongoing support will make a huge difference to children and families being cared for by Children’s Hospice in the area.

“£100 pays for one hour of vital nursing care and therapies, so this huge donation will enable us to provide additional much-needed care to local children who have a life-limiting condition. As a community-based service depending on the support of the local community, we are delighted to receive this donation.”

Darren Black from Northern Ireland Oval Racing added; “We were greatly encouraged by the response to this year’s event, and delighted that we were again able to raise £5,000 for the vital work of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

“We recently had the privilege of calling up to the Children’s Hospice building itself to present the monies, so local racers and fans at the Province’s three stock car venues at Ballymena, Tullyroan and Nutts Corner are now very aware of the difference this donation will make. Sincere thanks to everyone involved in helping raise this fantastic amount.”
