Lurgan 2 narrowly missed taking full points from the match with Dromore 2 with Bobby Ruddell’s rink falling short by just three shots but the team were satisfied with their six points away from home.

On Rink 1 Ronnie McCullough, Derek Henderson, Bobby Jones and Bobby Ruddell, skip, took the lead by 7-6 after the eleventh end and were three shots ahead after the fifteenth but the opposition took three shots to draw level at 10–10.

Unfortunately they were losers on the last two tight ends for the Dromore rink to win the rink 13–10.

Peter McGrail, skip, supported by Roy Poots, Rodney McCarthy and Gordon Bell on Rink 2 got off to a fine start and were well ahead at the halfway by 12–3 and then extended their lead to 17–4 after the fourteenth end.

The home rink was no match against McGrail’s rink who were in complete control throughout, winning fourteen of the eighteen ends to eventually win 22–6.

A full strength Lurgan 1 took full points from their home match with Dromore 2 to enhance their league position with both rinks winning well.

On Rink 1 Bobby Boness, Declan McCabrey, Billy Martin and Sam Neill, skip, fought hard against Derek Shanks’ Dromore rink and eventually took the lead by 10–8 after the eleventh end. They were always ahead until the end of their game which they won 16–11, aided by an excellent three-shot win at the seventeenth end.

Harry Cosgrove, skip, ably assisted by Vincent Devlin, Albert Houston and Ivor Mitchell, on Rink 2, had a splendid game against Sammy Malcolmson’s Dromore rink and were in command throughout.

They charted their way to a confident victory, leading 11–6 after the fifteenth end and eventually going on to win their rink 14–7.

Reece through to

the quarter-finals

Reece Millar had a fine win at home against J Crooks, Whitehead last Thursday evening in his third Round Youth Singles Championship match.

He displayed confidence throughout the match and lead throughout most of the match to win through to the quarter-finals by 21–7.

Peter McGrail and Alan Briggs travelled to Falls Park, Belfast to play Brendan Power and Gerard McCleave (Divis) in 3rd Round of the NIBA Pairs Championship.

It was a close fought contest. Finding themselves three shots down after the penultimate end, having a dropped a six, they recovered by claiming three valuable shots on the last end to tie the match at 18-18.

The tie end went in favour of the Lurgan Pair who won the match 20–18.
