The temperatures have scarcely reached double figures but the Banbridge based society are set to begin their new programme of outings on Sunday (22 February) with a trip to Edenmore Golf and Country Clun.

Since its inception in 2012, the Lost Boys have gone from strength to strength and they are now looking forward to another entertaining year under the stewardship of this year’s captain Garreth Sloan and vice-captain David Sterritt - both Banbridge men.

Back in 2012, the society enjoyed their first season, including many outings.

In 2013, a league format was introduced where the best six stableford scores out of nine count towards the Claret Jug League Champion.

In its first year, Garreth Sloan took home the coveted prize whilst in 2014 Alan Day was the recipient of the league trophy.

Indeed, he made it a double success, collecting the match-play championship on the final day of the season at Shandon Park.

The society have played numerous courses throughout their tenure, and more recently were off to Ballymascanlon where 2014 captain Andy Marks held his Captain’s Day/Weekend. Who knows where Garreth will take the troops on their Captain’s weekend this year?

As a society, the Lost Boys Golf Society have acquired many new golfers over the past number of years, from beginners to experts.

No matter what your ability is, everyone is warmly invited to get involved.

Anyone wishing to find out more information can find the society on Facebook or Twitter, or, alternatively, can email the society at [email protected].

The Society would like to thank their valued sponsors including Tricam Caravans Dromore, Gourmet Foods and Instyle Carpets.
