Loughanreagh back on track at top of North West Division 1

NORTH West Division One leaders Loughanreagh bounced back from last week's defeat to open up a 14 point gap over nearest rivals Ballinrees.

The Windyhall outfit's nine shot win over last year's champions earned them six very valuable points in the race for the title. In the first half Ian Ross held on to beat Willie Calvin by two and Alan Irwin added another four to their total with victory over Kenny McNeill.

Ballinrees hit back after the break as Victor Millen beat Alastair Steele nine shots, but their lead was shortlived as Edwin Irwin sealed the overall win for his side as he beat Jonathon Calvin by 12 shots.

Dunluce are four points behind Ballinrees after they picked up all seven points in their home win over bottom club Montra.

Boveedy remain fourth despite going down by one shot at Moneydig. The visitors won two rinks and drew a third as the home side took the overall win.

Boveedy won both games in the first half as Nigel Gamble overcame Willie Knight by two and Ronnie Crawford beat Trevor Workman by the same margin.

Torrance McFetridge and Alan Catherwood shared the spoils after the break, but Brian McFetridge's five shot win over Stephen White snatched the win for Moneydig.

The Marian remain two points ahead of Moneydig following their 11-shot win over Second Kilrea.

The hosts picked up 6.5 points in this derby tussle after winning three rinks and drawing the fourth. John Rainey beat Margaret Johnston by seven shots before James Martin saw off Nicky McCaw by three.

In the second half Terrance McGarry had a real battle with Alan Paul before sealing a one shot win before James McGarry and Ivan Smyth shared the spoils.

In Division Two First Coleraine took advantage of leaders St Mary's free week to close the gap at the top as they picked up all seven points against Killowen.

St Mary's though still lead by 24.5 points and seem certain to seal promotion sooner rather than later.

Clifford McLernon pulled out all the stops to squeeze past Sadie Davis by a single shot before Bryan Shaw added another nine to the hosts total as he saw off Billy Boyce.

After the break Colin Hutchinson beat Joe Davis by for and Jim Campbell disposed of Sam McArthur by the same margin to complete the win.

Castlerock slipped to third as they were beaten on their travels by New Row. The home side's one shot win earned them five points.

Jackie Hutchinson gave the visitors a good start as he beat Robin Humphries by nine shots. Tommy Moffatt hit back for the hosts though with an eight shot win over Ronnie Steele.

In the second half the 'Rock's' Victor Callaghan increased his team's lead with a as he beat Jonathon Elder by five shots, but Joe Elkin grab the overall win for New Row with a seven shot victory over Brian Wilson.

Drumreagh closed the gap on Garvagh and District as they beat them by eight shots picking up five shots in the process.

Drumreagh won both games in the first half as Edwin Jackson and Brian Taggart beat Ken McLenaghan and David Livingston by six shots each.

It was role reversal after the break as Garvagh and District's David Workman and Ian Reynolds beat Andy Campbell and Carson Boyd by two shots each.
