Loughanreagh move to the top after win over the Marian

Ian Ross (Loughanreagh) and Aidan Cassley (Marian) traded shots throughout the game but Ross held on to win 9-7. It was not so tight over on mat two with Alan Irwin (Loughanreagh) winning a one sided affair against James Martin (Marian). Nigel Gamble (Loughanreagh) and William McCaw (Marian) had a real ding dong battle with Gamble emerging the winner by three shots.

Brian McAlary brought some comfort to the Marian when he beat Alastair Steele (Loughanreagh) 13-7.

Second Kilrea suffered their first defeat of the season on the away trip to St. Colman’s, Dervock. It all started so well for the visitors as Hugh Paul defeated Paul McCook (St. Colman’s) by one shot. St. Colman’s fought back with vengeance and David Walker beat Brian McGrath (2nd. Kilrea) comprehensively. Ivan Smyth (2nd. Kilrea) had no answer against Aaran Tennant (St. Colman’s) and went down heavily. In the final game Martin McAleese (St. Colman’s) beat Nicky McCaw (2nd. Kilrea) 13-7 to give the home team six valuable points.

Ballinrees continued their recent good form taking six points from rivals Finvoy Presbyterian. Victor Millen set Ballinrees on their way, beating, Roy Hunter (Finvoy) by a single shot. Adam Hunter levelled the match with an 11-5 victory over Andrew Kelly (Ballinrees). That was Finvoys’ only point for William Calvin and David Calvin, both Ballinrees beat Joe Moore and Mark Jones (Finvoy) respectively to gain the overall win.

Dunluce are also showing better form of late and they secured a good away win against Boveedy. Ian Kerr got the ball moving for Dunluce by beating Robert Sufferin (Boveedy). Uel McKeeman made it 2-0 beating Andrew Wallace (Boveedy). Dunluce had two big wins in the second half thanks to Alastair Kilpatrick and Rodney Kane.
