Loughgiel U14s dominate in Liam Valley semi finals

Loughgiel began this Championship semi final with a startling performance with scores from a number of players, picking off points from all angles.

From midfield a break was taken and Dunloy worked the ball towards the Loughgiel goal area when the ball entered their half and was moved on well to the forward line who timed it well for a finely taken goal by Aine Magill. The Shamrocks responded with point after point taken by Roisin McCormick, Ciara Laverty and Mary McKillen. Unfortunately disaster struck the Loughgiel team. Mary McKillen sustained a serious leg injury as the result of an accident. Play was on hold for a period of time as an ambulance was tasked to attend to Mary. When play re-commenced Loughgiel took the lead in the field with scores coming from Roisin McCormick and Ciara Laverty .

HALF TIME SCORE: 2-08 TO 1-0 to Loughgiel

Loughgiel came out in the second half and continued to dominate the game despite Dunloy’s best efforts. Scores were taken by Roisin McCormick, Annie Lynn, Shauna McKillop, Erin McMullan and Ciara Laverty.

Loughgiel Seniors saw off Portglenone to get their championship season kicked off. Loughgiel juniors also saw of League champions Gort Na Mona to secure a slot in the semi final of the championship.
