Lurgan BBOB pay the price for poor display

On Saturday Lurgan BBOB entertained Keady Celtic in their final home game of the season and paid the price for a poor first half display. The visitors began brighter and were dominating from the first whistle.

There was a narrow escape for the home side when Keady attacked down the right and drove into the side netting. Gradually BBOB had more influence on the game and two excellent crosses from Simon Dowey resulted in missed opportunities. However Keady took the lead when a long clearance allowed their centre forward to break clear and score. A short time later a similar break allowed them to double their lead with another good finish. The response from BBOB was not good, though shortly before half time a header from Peter Foster was cleared off the goal line.

The second half saw an immense improvement from the home side. Driven on by Matthew Greer in the midfield they dominated the hlaf from start to finish. Andrew Watson and Philip Moutray had long range shots saved. A brilliant move down the left resulted in Richard Ferguson and Moutray having attempts saved and cleared from the line.

Moutray then had a goal disallowed for offside which looked quite harsh. Unfortunately against the run of play Keady made a quick break and added a third goal to guarantee the points. Credit to BBOB as they continued to drive forward and another header, this time by Joel McCreery, was headed off the line. Despite their best endeavors BBOB could not find a goal and the game finished in a three goal loss. With two games to go BBOB must seek to build on their impressive second half display.
