Lurgan U11s keep good run going

Lurgan Town U11s 6

Newhill 1

LURGAN Town U11s played Newhill on Saturday and although it took the boys a while to settle they ran out 6-1 winners.

The opening goal came after good work by Cahal McGinty and lay off by Sammy Davidson for the impressive Zach Annett who gets better every week to strike home.

After this the boys could not turn possession into goals and took two good strikes from John Lee McAfee to give the boys a 3-0 half time lead.

In the second half Lurgan pressed again and soon struck when a good ball by Harry Lockhart released Conor Treanor to slot home.

Newhill got one back at this stage when a clearance rebounded off a Lurgan defender and fell to a Newhill striker to score.

At this stage Jamie Leighton and Rhys Jones were looking lively on the break and both were rewarded with a goal each for their efforts to make a final result of 6-1.

Overall this was a decent performance although the boys must play with a quicker tempo in terms of passing and in decision making doing things quicker about the pitch.

Things at the back were solid with Dylan Cullen again showing how quickly he is improving, in midfield Cahal McGinty and Josiah Burgess showed some lovely play and great passing but man of the day goes to Zach Annett who has added great work ethic to his game to match his attacking play.
