Lyle wins Greenkeeper’s Cup at Brown Trout

The Greenkeepers Cup, always the last of the summer season was played for at the weekend, another week of good scoring with the top fourteen players at their handicap or better.

Lyle Harris (16) came through with a winning score of 43 points. Despite a slow start with a double bogey at the the second, Lyle ran of five pars in a row helping him to a front nine total of 22 points and then added another 21 to win by one shot from his playing partner William Pyper (14) Billy opened with 19 points over the highlight at the difficult par five 5th hole before playing the second nine in two over part yielding a further 23 points.

Two points back with a total of 40 points Tom Boyd (9) took the third prize on offer. Tom opened with 18 points and after starting off with two pars completed the back nine with seven 4’s! for 22 points.

Sam Reid (12) finished 4th and the seven points helped him clinch the player-of-the-year. Sam played steady gold all season and was the run away victor with 88 points. It was a close affair for runner-up place with Tom Boyd claiming the eight points for finishing third to leapfrog Ronnia Milliken to finish with 64 points just nudging Ronnie into third place with 63 points. Tom finished in runner-up position last season as well!

The two kitty was shared by Vice captain Gary Hammilton, Jimmy Kelly, Evan Wilson and Ronnie Millilken.
